It Teaser Released

Here we go. All aboard the hype train! This is, without doubt, one of our most highly anticipated films of the year. It has been a long time coming but Pennywise the Clown finally returns. This time, he’s going to be on the big screen. Today marks the release of the first It teaser trailer.

Stephen King’s original novel was written in 1986 and a television miniseries of the same name was released in 1990. Both the novel and miniseries are considered classics. A group of six children, dubbed the Loser’s Club, are haunted by a killer clown that no adults can see. Each have their own individual run-ins with the villain but their bond proves powerful enough to combat him. 30 years after defeating Pennywise, the evil clown returns and the Loser’s Club, as adults, must reunite to take him down for good.

Bill Skarsgård will don the face paint and costume in this film and will certainly be under the microscope. Tim Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 series is legendary among horror fans. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who isn’t at least somewhat familiar with his version of the clown. It was quite scary on television but Andrés Muschietti’s (most likely) R-rated theatrical version has a chance to bring the story to new heights. It’s expected to be much more in line with the book which is quite graphic and more brutal than its TV counterpart.

As far as the miniseries goes, the first half of it’s fantastic while the second half falls a little flat. The child actors are extremely likable and there’s definitely chemistry between them. The new film stars Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Wyatt Oleff, Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Chosen Jacobs as the Loser’s Club. Like Skarsgård, the young cast will definitely be challenged to live up to their predecessors. One thing to note is that the teaser focuses solely on the children’s part of the story. It’s expected that the film will be split into two parts. Though, the trailer shows the current title simply as It.

Either way, anticipation is through the roof on this one. Check out the very first It teaser and comment below.
