The Disaster Artist Teaser Released

Oh boy. Have we really gotten to this point already? We’re actually going to get a movie about the making of one of the worst movies of all time? For those who haven’t seen Tommy Wiseau’s hilarious, but horrendous, film, The Room, stop reading this and go watch it. Preferably, watch it with at least one other person as it’s best experienced with people. For those who have seen The Room, you’ll be right at home with the first teaser for James Franco’s behind the scenes look at the making of the film in The Disaster Artist.

Based on Tommy Wiseau’s co-star, Greg Sestero’s, non-fiction book of the same name, the film is definitely a comedy as can be seen by the ridiculous scene in the teaser. Supposedly, it will highlight the meeting and friendship between Wiseau (James Franco) and Sestero (Dave Franco), the making of the film, and their “success” following the film’s release. The film also stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Josh Hutcherson, Hannibal Burress, Jacki Weaver, and Melanie Griffith.

Releasing a film like this could be a challenging prospect as The Room is unintentionally funny despite its director’s claims. Though, an initial look at the cast is quite encouraging. The best route that The Disaster Artist can take is to be a comedy. Everything about Wiseau’s film is ridiculous and it’d be hard to tell the story in a dramatic fashion. While we’re not entirely sure what to expect from the film, it already premiered at South by Southwest. In fact, it received a standing ovation. Either way, for “fans” of The Room, it should at least be worth a watch.

The Disaster Artist is set for release on December 8th. Check out the teaser and comment below.
