Blade Runner 2049 Teaser Released

The ridiculously long awaited sequel to Ridley Scott’s science fiction classic, Blade Runner, finally feels like it’s happening. Yes, it was green-lit a few years ago but rumors of a sequel to the 1982 film began back in 1999. Needless to say, this is a project long in the making. Today, we’ve finally received the first look at Blade Runner 2049.

Over the years, there had been thoughts that the film wouldn’t happen, be a prequel, or be a total remake. Instead, the final result feels like something the fans of the original truly want. 2049 is set 30 years after the events of the original and a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) uncovers a secret that could throw society into chaos. He embarks on a search to find long missing blade runner, Rick Deckard.

Harrison Ford returns to another one of his classic characters in Deckard. Over the years, he has reprised his roles as Indiana Jones in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Han Solo in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Ford has been on somewhat of a career renaissance by playing all of his old characters and he has been fantastic in each role. He’s also doing well to pass the torch to younger stars and it doesn’t seem like that will cease with Ryan Gosling in this film. Gosling is already a legitimate actor himself but it will be great to see how he and Ford interact in this film.

The new film is directed by Denis Villeneuve. He has had a solid track record with his films Prisoners, Sicario, and, most recently, Arrival. Villeneuve has proven himself to be quite a competent director and should be a good choice to resurrect this series.

Blade Runner 2049 is set for release on October 6th, 2017. The film has a solid cast in place with Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Lennie James, Sylvia Hoeks, and Barkhad Abdi in supporting roles. Check out the teaser trailer and comment below.
