All Eyez on Me Trailer Released

After the success of the biopics on The Notorious B.I.G. and N.W.A., we’re set to get another on a legendary rap artist. Tupac Shakur’s biopic, All Eyez on Me, is set for release this summer and the full length trailer is finally here.

Like Notorious and Straight Outta ComptonAll Eyez on Me will center on the rapper’s life and his ups and downs until his death in 1996. Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. stars as Tupac and he definitely looks the part. The trailer does a great job in building hype for the film. It shows glimpses of Tupac’s upbringing, his familial association with the Black Panthers, and his career. It also introduces some polarizing figures from Tupac’s life such as the aforementioned B.I.G. and Suge Knight. Along with Shipp, the film stars Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Dominic L. Santana, Lauren Cohan, and Jamal Woolard reprising his role from Notorious as Biggie Smalls.

These recent biopics have been proven successes. Notorious made over double its production budget worldwide. In addition, Straight Outta Compton made a whopping $201 million worldwide and was considered a snub at the Academy Awards in 2016. There’s no doubt that All Eyez on Me should rake in solid returns at the box office upon release.

The film opens in theaters on June 16th. Check out the trailer and comment below.
