Death Wish Trailer Released

With action movies like John Wick and Atomic Blonde generating a lot of hype, there has definitely been a bit of a resurgence of the genre. Sure, there are still your ugly, special effect riddled bore-fests like Transformers and Valerian. However, action is at its best when it’s simple, yet brutal, fun. Thus, the remake of Death Wish actually looks pretty good judging by its first trailer.

The original Death Wish, starring Charles Bronson, was released in 1974 and loosely adapted from a 1972 novel of the same name by Brian Garfield. The film was about a man who becomes a vigilante following the murder of his wife. Despite its extremely negative reviews due to its support of vigilantism, the film spawned four sequels and was a watershed moment for Bronson who was 53 at the time.

This time around, a 62 year old Bruce Willis will be in the lead role with Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) in the director’s chair. The trailer is violent with numerous splashes of dark comedy. Over the years, Willis has proven himself as a formidable action hero with performances as John McClane in the Die Hard series and Detective Hartigan in the Sin City movies. Though, he has had a number of missteps in films like A Good Day to Die Hard and Cop Out. Nonetheless, we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in this new film.

Death Wish opens in theaters on November 22nd. Check out the trailer and comment below.
