Nocturnal Animals Trailer Released

Focus Features has a pretty good track record of quality independent/art house films to its name. It appears that they’re about to add to their impressive resume with Tom Ford’s new film, Nocturnal Animals.

Ford first gained attention after his directorial debut with 2009’s A Single Man. Now, seven years later, he returns with a new drama/thriller. Nocturnal Animals stars Amy Adams as an art gallery owner whose ex husband, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, sends her a novel dedicated to her. Adams character views this as a threat due to the violent nature of the novel and some misdeed she committed against him in the past.

From the look of the trailer, the film has an elegant, yet sinister look to it. Parts of it hearken back to the Coen brothers’ film, Bloodsimple, with its talk of murder and even the costuming and character traits of co-stars Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

This film is loaded with acting talent. Besides the aforementioned stars, Michael Sheen, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney, and Andrea Riseborough have supporting roles. Judging by the attention of Ford’s previous film, Nocturnal Animals could be an Oscar-worthy title during awards season.

The film will be released on December 9th. Check out the trailer and comment below.
