Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Final Trailer Released

Over the past six months, anticipation has been building for Luc Besson’s new film. The trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets has been showing before seemingly every single new movie in the theater over the past few months. Yesterday, the final trailer for the film dropped ahead of its July release date.

Oddly enough, this final trailer feels like it should’ve been the original teaser for the film. It briefly sums up the film’s overall plot and doesn’t give away too much. It’s strange that this would be the last look potential audiences get of the film before its opening in theaters.

What really is there to say about the content of the trailer? The film is going to be a visual feast. That much is certain. The special effects look fantastic. They instantly remind of Besson’s 1997 film, The Fifth Element, along with the Mass Effect video game series, and even 2012’s Avatar. Also, it sounds like they used the choir’s vocalizations at the end of Coolio’s “Gangster’s Paradise” in this trailer. Did anyone else hear this? Regardless, the film looks solid and has been creeping up the list of highly anticipated summer blockbusters.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets opens on July 21st. Check out the final trailer and comment below.
