X-Men: Apocalypse Final Trailer Released

The final trailer for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse has arrived.

Now that the final X-Men: Apocalypse trailer has dropped, there’s only one thing to say: this movie looks like X-Men: The Last Stand. That is not a good thing.

This new film was even written by the screenwriter of The Last Stand. Seriously. When are these studios going to learn that when you start to cram too much stuff into these films, they straight up kill their franchises. Just like in The Last Stand, Apocalypse is introducing a plethora of new mutants that are going to war with the existing mutants. Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is being relegated to a henchman as is Storm (AKA two of the most recognizable X-Men characters, period). On top of everything, the film just looks like it’s going to be a giant CGI-fest.

That being said, Apocalypse does at least have a good cast. James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence return as Charles Xavier and Mystique respectively. Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse is on his way to being a consistent leading man following starring roles in Inside Llewyn Davis, Ex Machina, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (along with its upcoming sequel). Michael Fassbender is one of the best actors out there right now. Olivia Munn, Evan Peters (American Horror Story), and Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) are all set to have important roles in the film as well.

After resurrecting the X-Men franchise with First Class and offering an interesting crossover film between the old and new X-Men with Days of Future Past, it appears that 20th Century Fox might be looking to kill off the X-Men once again if Apocalypse does indeed fall flat. We’ll all have to wait until May 27th to see how this all plays out. Watch the trailer and comment below.

That was probably my favorite part of the trailer. I’m just not sure of how big/small his role will be. Needless to say… Wolverine is the man.
