Leatherface Trailer #2 Released

Well, Lionsgate certainly isn’t wasting any time on spreading word about their upcoming prequel to 1974’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. A mere three weeks ago came our first glimpse and now a second Leatherface trailer has already been released.

Since we just covered the last trailer, we’ll keep this short and sweet. For our first impressions and skepticism of the franchise in general, click here. Like we’ve previously said, this new film follows a teenage Leatherface as he escapes a mental institution with three other inmates. They kidnap a nurse and embark on their “road trip from Hell” while being hunted by a deranged lawman (Stephen Dorff).

Like we said in our first write-up, the best thing that this movie has going for it is Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury as co-directors. They’re responsible for the brutal French film, Inside, which has all the blood and gore that one could hope for from a Texas Chainsaw film. From the look of these first two trailers, Leatherface does seem to be a bit more in tune with the reboot series than with the 1974 film. Though, the 2003 reboot already had a prequel with 2006’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning so it’s understandable why the filmmakers wouldn’t want to go back even further. Either way, we can’t say that Leatherface looks all that bad right now.

The film is set for release on DirecTV on September 21st with a theatrical release on October 20th. Check out the second Leatherface trailer and comment below.
