It has been a while since we’ve heard anything about the highly anticipated sequel to Deadpool. Way back in March, the “No Good Deed” teaser played ahead of Hugh Jackman’s swansong as Wolverine in Logan. Now, a second teaser has been released with the “Merc with a Mouth” spoofing The Joy of Painting host, Bob Ross, in “Wet on Wet.”
While the bulk of the teaser is made up of Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) dropping innuendo as he paints, there’s also a small amount of what looks to be movie footage thrown in. From the brief clips, there’s some good looking action along with glimpses of the first movie’s characters. It’s nice to see the return of characters like Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Weasel (T.J. Miller), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), and even Dopinder (Karan Soni). Unfortunately, we don’t get our first glimpse at Josh Brolin as Cable other than in the final Thanksgiving painting.
Ever since the release of the first film in 2016, the character of Deadpool has become a modern pop culture icon. Ryan Reynolds and the filmmakers have definitely appeared to embrace this with all of Deadpool’s appearances. There’s no doubt that Deadpool 2 will rake in cash at the box office next year. All we can hope for is that the sequel lives up to the quality of the first. The upcoming film did see a bit of turmoil with director Tim Miller leaving the project. Though, David Leitch, who most recently directed Atomic Blonde, now mans the director’s chair.
Deadpool 2 is set for release on June 1st, 2018. Check out the new “Wet on Wet” teaser and comment below.
